I haven't posted in awhile. Sparky broke his leg while at the kennel and needed surgery and rehab...
He was feeling pretty down.
Just as he was feeling better again, he got into some sugarless gum and had a toxic reaction, and we thought that we would lose him. (Guard any gum that has xylitol)! Luckily, he is all better now...
Whew!
One January morning, in a Washington D.C. Metro station, a young violinist played for an hour as almost 2,000 commuters shuffled past. Few people stopped to listen, or even slowed their pace; When he finished playing, no one applauded, but he had collected $32 in his container.
The violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the most talented musicians in the world. He played Bach on a violin worth $3.5 million dollars, just two days before he was to perform at his sold-out concert in Boston where the seat prices averaged $100 each.
Mr. Bell was participating in a social experiement organized by The Washington Post, to raise the question:
When talent and beauty appear in an unexpected context, can we stop, notice, and appreciate it?
My goal for 2010 is to search out beauty in unexpected places and capture what I can thought the lens of my camera...

What a fulfilling trip to New England!
I had so much fun capturing the sights of the season.
We went to a farm called Russell Orchards in Ipswich, MA.
They have apple picking, hayrides, a bakery...even music in the pumpkin patch.
Do you think the turkeys are being fattened up for Thanksgiving? Yipes!
We fed the ducks, watched them make cider--
the best I've ever tasted in the world...
and their cider doughnuts have just been featured in Edible Boston magazine.
But the best part was visiting Big Boy the pig, who weighs 1000 pounds!
He loves it if you throw him an apple.
He can also eat an entire pumpkin.
Big Boy knows what he wants...
